Mesothelioma and Asbestos
Mesothelioma cancer is a rare but deadly form of cancer that targets the linings of the body’s internal organs. It is one of the most fatal form of cancers. There are approximately more than 2,000 new cases diagnosed every year in the United States. People who are diagnosed with this type of cancer has less than one year to survive. If diagnosed at an early stage of the disease, mesothelioma patient has bigger chances of survival because of its treatment.
Workers and others who have been exposed to toxic asbestos may suffer from mesothelioma. Manufacturers of asbestos knew about the dangers of asbestos product before they revealed it to the public. Thousands of people were needlessly exposed because of this negligence.
A variety of factors affect a patient's mesothelioma prognosis. The most important include the site where the cancer has developed, the stage or extent of cancer. Other factors such as the patient's general health, age and response to treatment can also affect prognosis.
There are cases of mesothelioma asbestos patients that survived. Paul Kraus is one of the them. He is an author of the book entitled Surviving Mesothelioma and Other Cancers - A Patient Guide. His book discusses survival behavior when you are diagnosed with mesothelioma.
